Piano Teacher

Sussex

I am a composer, pianist, musical director, and teacher with a background in theatre, comedy, and music education. I began studying piano and trombone as a child and went on to read Music at the University of Sussex under the late composer Jonathan Harvey. My career has included composing for theatre, radio, and film, as well as co-founding two touring companies and directing award-winning musical productions.

I have a particular passion for teaching music creatively, whether it's helping children write their first song or coaching actors—many with no prior experience—to sing and play together on stage. I have taught piano and composition privately to students preparing for GCSE Music and those forming their own bands.

As a composer, I’ve collaborated with author Philip Reeve on two musicals (The Ministry of Biscuits and Lord God), written songs for comedian Joanna Neary (broadcast on BBC Radios 1, 2, 4 and BBC4), and composed scores for short films, stage productions and choirs. My love of classical composers and composition continues to shape my work. Above all, I aim to help all students find confidence, creativity and joy in their own musical journeys.
