Board Member
Elizabeth is a company director, freelance writer and facilitator and the mother of two - Iris and Max. She did her BA and MA in London before moving to Brighton in 2006 and falling in love. Previous roles include working for an auction house, for an art book publisher, The Art Newspaper, Artforum and The Good Schools Guide. She created and ran Officrèche, a flexible nursery with co-working onsite, for six years. Her position on the Sussex Music School board demonstrates the value she places on music as a vital part of children and adults’ learning lives, prioritising the need for diverse accessibility particularly in these changing times.

Board Member
Kate is an Associate Partner and chartered Corporate tax adviser for a large accountancy firm in London and a single mother of two girls. She was born in South Africa but considers Brighton her home (although she lives in Hurstpierpoint at the moment). She had the luxury of being surrounded by music all her life and knows how important it is for your mental and physical wellbeing and as such is very passionate about supporting the Sussex Music School in their purpose, particularly around providing access to music making and education to all children.

RACHAEL BARNES
Board Member
Rachael is a TV documentary producer and Mum to eight year old Angus. She’s made series on subjects as diverse as lifeboats, teenage crime and growing old. Working in a creative industry, she recognises the importance of nurturing ability and encouraging self-expression from an early age.
