Featuring music from genres Including jazz, blues and funk, students will learn a song that will be used as the foundation to get the students improvising. 
 
Charlotte is a saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist, and runs her own award-winning band. This workshop can either be 2 hours or a whole day. Charlotte will bring two other jazz musicians to help show technique and demonstrate. If space allows, we can have breakout groups to allow students to develop their skills in small groups before coming together final big band performance, or work in one room with everybody together. Th workshop will look at the most common scales that jazz and pop musicians use including pentatonic scales, blues scales, the Dorian scale and major scales, and learn how to apply them to get good phrases together.  It will be fun!
