What the Head of Bolnore Village Primary School says:
"At Bolnore Village Primary School, we are always looking for ways to remove barriers to participation for our disadvantaged pupils. Despite offering a range of free after-school clubs and enrichment opportunities, uptake was often limited, with many families telling us that transport difficulties, caring for siblings, and other family commitments made it challenging.
We approached Beth from Sussex Music School to see whether she could offer a lunchtime music club, knowing how much our children already enjoy her curriculum music lessons. Beth's enthusiasm, energy and passion for music are truly infectious and she introduced Boomwhackers Jammers with the same commitment and joy that she brings to everything she does.
It is early days but the impact has been noticeable already. Not only are the children developing their musical skills, including rhythm, pulse and pitch, but they are also gaining confidence, teamwork skills and a real sense of belonging. The children talk excitedly about their club, love coming to school to take part, and relish the opportunity to channel their energy in such a positive way. We have even seen improvements in attendance among this group of pupils, who clearly feel valued, included and connected to school.
Beth has created something very special. Boomwhackers Jammers is far more than a music club; it is an opportunity for children to experience success, friendship and we can feel the joy! The children are quite simply having the most "Bolnore Brilliant Best" time, and we could not recommend Beth and Sussex Music School highly enough."
