Designed for young musicians , these hands-on courses blend performance, composition, and imagination—helping children grow their confidence and love for music in a supportive environment.

There are two courses one suitable for players of acoustic instruments and one for those with no instrument or experience at all!

Soundtrack : ages 8-14 - any acoustic instrument including guitars.

Fantastic Mr Fox - ages 7-11 - any or no instrument! We will be providing classroom percussion and will also be singing.

Soundtrack Course

The three-day Summer Music Sessions course is open to anyone who plays an acoustic instrument—including acoustic guitar. Whether your child is a beginner or more experienced, the course is designed to be fully inclusive.

What makes this programme stand out is its multi-level orchestra approach. Each participant receives bespoke musical parts tailored to their instrument and ability, ensuring everyone can take part comfortably and feel successful.

Children won’t just be playing notes—they’ll be stepping into the world of storytelling through music.

Participants will explore iconic soundtracks from composers such as:

• Joe Hisaishi

• Danny Elfman

• John Williams

These sessions help children understand how music shapes emotion and atmosphere in films, TV shows, and video games—bringing their performances to life.

Throughout the course, children will:

• Develop ensemble playing skills

• Improve musicianship and listening

• Take part in rhythm workshops

• Explore singing and improvisation

These varied activities keep sessions engaging while encouraging creativity, teamwork, and confidence.

At the end of the three days, children will showcase everything they’ve worked on in a final concert. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to celebrate their progress, perform for family, and experience the excitement of live music.

The “Fantastic Mr Fox” Creative Course

In addition to the main programme, Summer Music Sessions offers a special two-day creative course inspired by Fantastic Mr Fox.

Using Roald Dahl’s beloved story and the film score by Alexandre Desplat, children will:

• Create their own musical compositions

• Work collaboratively in groups

• Explore how music reflects action and mood in storytelling

Rather than focusing purely on performance, this course encourages imagination, creativity, and self-expression.

No Experience Needed

One of the most exciting aspects ?Children don’t need prior musical experience to take part.

While they are welcome to bring an instrument, it’s not required—making the course accessible to everyone.

A Creative Showcase

At the end of the two days, there will be an informal sharing session, where children present the scenes and music they’ve developed. It’s a relaxed and rewarding way to celebrate their creativity.
