Sussex

Beth studied BA (Hons) Music at Bath Spa University with a specialism in solo clarinet performance, ensemble performance and composition.  She then gained a PGCE in Music at the University of Sussex and began her career teaching Secondary Music.

Keen to expand her teaching experience, Beth went on to explore Primary Music teaching.  She has been a Primary Music Specialist for 15 years working with children from EYFS to KS2 with a diverse range of needs and backgrounds.

Beth ensures her lessons are inclusive, creative and happy occasions where children are able to flourish and develop their musical skills and knowledge. She loves teaching all aspects of the Primary Music Curriculum but particularly enjoys teaching singing, whole-class recorder and ukulele.  She has experience of delivering singing assemblies and extra-curricular clubs including ensembles, choirs, and music technology.

Beth passionately believes that music is for all and that every child should have access to a high-quality music curriculum alongside enriching musical experiences. She is also a firm advocate for music being a powerful tool to boost wellbeing and bringing people together.

About her new role on the SMS Management Team Beth says ""I am absolutely delighted to be part of the Senior Leadership Team at Sussex Music School! I look forward to supporting our partners in building the culture of music within their schools, ensuring that all children have access to a high-quality, rich and transformative music education."

In her spare time Beth loves going to see live music and playing clarinet in her local community orchestra.
