First Music Scholarship awarded by Sussex Music School
We are delighted to announce that our first Music Scholarship is now in place. Piano Pupil was recommended for the scholarship by her teacher Megan who felt she would really benefit from a little longer at the piano in her in school lessons.
Matilda says "I like playing piano because it let's all my emotions and stress out whilst I'm playing. I find it helps me relax. In the future I want to be able to play piano for all my family and friends. I really enjoy my lessons and would love to have longer ones so am so pleased SMS have helped me to do that"
Since the school's pupil premium budget only covered 20 minute lessons SMS agreed to top up the lessons to 30 minutes until the end of the school year and are in discussions with Matilda's parents about how we may be able to help Matilda in future.
Director Alex Dalton says "We have been able to carry on teaching and taken on lots of new pupils during lockdown and we know how beneficial these lessons are for so many children. We are delighted to have been able to contribute to Matilda's lessons as part of our Scholarship scheme She has shown so much enthusiasm and has a great work ethic and we are very proud to be able to help her explore her music further We hope this is the first of many scholarships we will offer in schools during 2021 and beyond"
