I graduated from Sheffield University in 2000 with 1st class honours in music.  My first study instrument was piano, and I was awarded the Thomas Beecham scholarship after my first year.  Following university I completed a primary PGCE at Reading University, with a specialism in primary music teaching. 

I have extensive experience of teaching curriculum music in primary schools in the London area.  Since relocating to Eastbourne in summer 2019, I am now involved in primary music teaching and piano teaching through Sussex Music School.  I love to see children’s enthusiasm as they engage with music and I am passionate about ensuring that there is access to excellent music teaching for all. 

When I’m not teaching or playing the piano I also like to sing, play the guitar and write songs.  I love to go for walks my family, and I like baking (and eating!) cakes.
