and Online
Joanna graduated from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge with a BA (Hons) Music degree in which she developed a huge interest in composition, world music and jazz, taking up private jazz piano lessons in addition to her classical studies.
Her love of working with children as a private piano teacher since 2005 then led her to take a PGCE course in Secondary Music at Bath Spa University which she completed in 2008. She has since worked in different schools both in the UK and overseas, teaching children of varying ages and abilities. Her main experience has has been in the Primary Sector (EYFS up to Year 6) but, as a trained Secondary teacher, has also worked with children up to A-Level. Within these roles, she has directed choirs, accompanied children in concerts and exams, and written short arrangements for various ensembles.
Joanna has a passion for working with children and young adults and believes that music should be an essential part of their lives, aiding their social and cognitive development significantly. It is also a means of self-expression and for some, therapy; this is something that she tries to put across and enhance in both her work as a classroom music teacher and private piano teacher.
