HELEN
Flute, Recorder, Piano, Singing
Primary Curriculum, Sussex
Helen is a versatile and vibrant Musician with more than 30 years’ experience of peripatetic teaching of the flute, recorder, piano and singing. Whether from age 5, or right up to Adulthood, (including some teachers too!), she has a passion for passing on the skills needed to help others learn to play an instrument or improve their singing, experiencing the joy that music brings to life.
Her focus is first and foremost that playing an instrument should be an enjoyable experience, so brings enthusiasm and encouragement to support all aspects of developing well-rounded musical skills; encompassing technique, theory, aural and performance.
Since first studying at the Royal Academy of Music at their Saturday morning Junior School as a child, then later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, she has loved performing and playing in many different Orchestras and Chamber groups over the years. This has motivated her to encourage all her pupils to play along with others, no matter how basic their level, as this develops their playing skills, boosts self- confidence, is a wonderfully sociable activity and is also a great deal of fun!
Over the years, Helen has run and conducted many groups; from Orchestras, Wind bands, Flute and Recorder Ensembles and Chamber Choirs, as she believes making music together is a profoundly life enriching experience!
In her spare time, Helen looks forward to wandering around garden centres buying too many plants for her garden, Pilates, cuddling her dog, a Labradoodle called Nahla and making a lot of mess in her Art Studio!
