EMILY B

Voice and Curriculum, Eastbourne and Surrounds

Emily studied singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama after completing a
degree in Psychology and Education. While forging her performing career she became
involved in community music projects and discovered a love of facilitating young voices.
She went on to study Voice Teaching at Central School of Speech and Drama and, after
working in London drama schools, including Mountview Theatre School, Emily went on
to work for many years as a Voice Animateur for La Folia music productions, working in
both special and mainstream primary schools creating innovative theatre pieces. She
was particularly inspired by working with young people with learning disabilities as well
as with children with hearing impairments.

In 2017, Emily was awarded a Distinction on completing a specialist training in Teaching
Young Voices. She now has 14 years experience of singing to all ages up to 18, from
beginners right through to advanced level, preparing and entering them for ABRSM and
Trinity exams, auditions, competitions, or just singing for fun.
Emily is passionate about enabling all young people to find their voice, whatever their
ability and aspirations. She also loves working with Early Years and teaches a number
of pre-school music classes. Emily has been working alongside Alex Dalton, Director of
SMS, training as a primary curriculum music teacher.
