"I am a passionate and dedicated music educator specialising in diversity in music education. I have taught in primary and secondary settings for over 10 years, and as well as classroom music teaching I teach singing, ukulele, guitar, music technology, recorder and steel pans in schools. In addition to classroom music teaching, I am engaged in research and consultancy in music education and completed my PhD in 2018, which examined musical diversity and non-western music in post-16 education. It’s difficult to pick an area of music teaching that I love the most, but I do particularly enjoy running choirs – there’s such a joy to singing, and facilitating young people to progress in this skill and engaging in music through it is very rewarding. I believe all pupils benefit from a broad music curriculum that both represents their interests and introduces them to new music from their own and other cultures. I am a singer, guitarist and steel pan player .
