Andrea – Piano and Violin
I am a classically trained pianist and violinist who is passionate about the positive effects music can bring to both children and adults. My approach to teaching is patient and friendly, and my aim is to make music lessons engaging and enjoyable, whilst also giving pupils a solid grounding in technique on their instrument.
Every pupil is different and I believe that tailoring lessons to suit each individual is important. I find that using a variety of different teaching methods can help to develop a good foundation of musical understanding, as well as providing fun and variety to the lessons. For pupils who are preparing for music exams I incorporate scales, sight-reading, aural training and theory during regular lessons. I also often include these elements for those who are not taking exams as a way of developing technique and musical awareness.
When I’m not teaching I love to play Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and jazz piano! I enjoy playing regularly with the Sussex Symphony Orchestra – my favourite piece of music we have performed is Sibelius’ Fifth Symphony. Apart from all things musical I also like to visit art galleries, go to the cinema, and keep fit with yoga and running.
